Scientific Solutions to Help Poultry Smoothly Navigate Critical Periods

I.Understanding the Challenges:Immunosuppression and Its Relationship with Poultry Production

Under intensive farming conditions, poultry flocks may experience immunosuppression or suboptimal health due to multiple factors, including early-stage infections, mycotoxin contamination, environmental stress, etc. The direct manifestations include:

Reduced resistance: Increased susceptibility to common environmental pathogens.

Poor vaccine response: Slow, low, or uneven antibody production following vaccination, compromising protective efficacy.Exaggerated stress reactions: Higher risk of secondary issues (respiratory, intestinal, etc.) following management procedures such as housing transfer, feed changes, or vaccination.

Under such circumstances, relying solely on vaccines or therapeutic drugs often yields limited results. Therefore, scientific and timely immunomodulation and support through exogenous interventions are crucial to help flocks restore or maintain an optimal immune response capacity.

II.Science of Multi-Target Immunomodulation

In modern poultry production, a "multi-target, comprehensive" nutritional and health intervention strategy is preferred for complex immunoregulatory needs. The scientific rationale lies in the synergistic action of different functional components to provide gentle, holistic support to the immune system.

Promoting immune cell maturation and function:Components such as thymosin peptides help promote the development, differentiation, and maturation of T lymphocytes, thereby enhancing cell-mediated immunity.

Transferring immune information:Transfer factors are used to deliver specific immune information to recipient cells, helping to compensate for innate immune memory deficiencies and shorten the delayed phase of immune response.

Modulating immune response and balance:Interleukins and other cytokines participate in regulating the activation, proliferation, and interaction of immune cells, assisting the body in establishing an appropriate and balanced immune response.

Strengthening mucosal immune barriers:Prebiotics such as mannan-oligosaccharides (MOS) regulate gut microbiota balance, promote the proliferation of beneficial bacteria, and competitively inhibit pathogen colonization, thereby reinforcing the intestinal tract as a crucial immune barrier.

III.Practical Applications – Programmed Protocols at Critical Time Points

Programmed integration of immunomodulation protocols into critical farming periods is essential to realize their value. The above standardized application time points are based on a comprehensive immunomodulation product "New San Huang" as an example for reference:

1. Broiler Application Protocol (Focused on Rapid Growth)

4–6 days (Foundation period): 1 bottle per 5,000 birds in drinking water for 3 consecutive days.

20–21 days (Rapid growth period / immune gap period): 1 bottle per 3,000 birds in drinking water for 2 consecutive days. If fever is present at this stage, combine with "Chai Xiaohu" at a dosage of 1 bottle per 1,000 L of drinking water for 3 consecutive days.

33–34 days (Finishing / strengthening period): 1 bottle per 2,000 birds in drinking water for 2 consecutive days. If fever is present at this stage, combine with "Chai Xiaohu" at a dosage of 1 bottle per 1,000L of drinking water for 3 consecutive days.

2. Layer Application Protocol (Targeting Sustained Peak Laying Period)

Layers have a long production cycle, requiring a systematic protocol to support key physiological transition points, particularly immune stress periods and high-output consumption phases.

4~6 days (Brooding / foundation): Same as broilers: 1 bottle per 5,000 birds for 3 consecutive days.

30, 60, 90 days (At vaccination period): Use the day before and the day of vaccination (2 consecutive days) at 1 bottle per 3,000 birds.

About 120 days (Laying ramp-up period): 1 bottle per 2,000 birds for 2 consecutive days.

180 days, etc. (Revaccination during laying period): 1 bottle per 2,000 birds for 2 consecutive days. Use in conjunction with vaccination.

230~260 days & 330~360 days (Peak laying period maintenance / high disease risk period): 1 bottle per 2,000 birds for 2 consecutive days. If fever is present at this stage, combine with "Chai Xiaohu" at 1 bottle per 1,000L of water for 3 consecutive days.
